Eric Pollock Marathon Fundraiser

On October 12th, Eric Pollock will be lacing up his running shoes and taking on a full marathon to raise funds for The Men's Centre — with every step dedicated to supporting men and families in our community.

Note From Eric:

Why I’m Running

Over the past year, I’ve come to realize how vital support networks are, how important it is to develop community, and the power of showing up for yourself. I’ve reached five years of sobriety this year in June, and have gone through a separation that became a major turning point in my life.  I wasn’t always aware of the support systems around me, and as welcome a realization it was, it was frustrating to realize how much people were willing to help and never believed it. Whether institutional resources like men's clinics or simply the power of friends showing up. I now know those supports are out there. Sometimes we just don’t know how to ask.

Training for this marathon has become a form of accountability. A way to take care of my physical and mental health with a clear, consistent goal.  I chose to put on a pair of running shoes and push myself, instead of buying a pack of cigarettes and spiraling out.  I’ll admit it’s been a coping mechanism at times, but it’s one I’m proud of.  While I’m running for myself, weekly and in the upcoming marathon, I’m also running for something bigger:  a chance to give back and to raise awareness and funds for men’s mental health support.

My first-ever race was a run for recovery, which felt like a fitting first step, and this feels like a natural continuation of that journey. I hope this can be a way to not only heal myself but contribute to the broader conversation and make support more visible and accessible for others. By donating, you’re helping fund the resources and programs that give men the support they need when they need it most.

Join me in this mission. Every step I take on October 12 is for recovery, for connection, and for every one who needs to know they are not alone.

Thank you for supporting our mission, your support is invaluable!
